Hi KLAA Friends:

On Saturday, February 13th, the KY Llama & Alpaca Association met for the first meeting of the year. Many plans were made for the upcoming months. These activities will keep us busy, but are designed to showcase our farms and market our animals. Please plan to participate.

On Sunday, May 2nd, we will again hike with our animals at Blue Licks State Park in Carlisle. For all that have attended our past treks, you know what a fun day this has become.

The “Sheep Dog Trials” will be held in Lexington on May 14, 15, & 16. We plan to participate in this event. You know sheep farmers need guard animals! Marlene Williams will be filling us in on the details at a later date.

Our 9th annual “Lama Daze” will be held on Saturday, May 29th at the Georgetown-Scott Co. Park. This event has grown each year and has become something the public looks forward to attending.

In July, the Lexington Blue Grass Fair (second only to the state fair) has asked us to be part of the animal exhibition at the fair. Plans are under way to make this a special event. We will need your participation to be successful.

These are just a few things that KLAA is planning for the next few months. Many more activities are in the works, so plan to renew your membership and support KLAA.

On a sadder note, we extend our sympathy to the family of Bob Kalb of Augusta, who passed away in early February. Bob had been an active member of KLAA, and served as a past board member before ill health made him curtail his activities.

Hopefully, spring is just around the corner, and we can get out and enjoy our animals.

Donna
