On April 15, 2006, Country View Llamas hosted "A Day With The Llamas" for the Gallatin County 4-H Club.
With 22 kids and parents in attendance, the day started with a brief orientation about llamas. We then brought out four llamas for the kids to lead. Oh, all the llamas were so good with the kids. At the same time, we hooked CeCe up to the cart and gave all the kids rides. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the ride and CeCe certainly enjoyed being the center of attention.
We broke for lunch and served the group a sack lunch.
After lunch, Marvel prepared Berkley for shearing and then proceeded with a shearing demonstration. After Berkley was looking GREAT, the kids asked to lead the llamas again. It was so cute to watch all the kids and the llamas in the front barn yard. The smallest little girl of the group was leading CeCe around like a little puppy dog. CeCe stood at least 4 feet taller than the little girl. As they were walking around the yard she said, "I really like CeCe. He is so easy to lead." Yes, once again CeCe thoroughly enjoyed the center of attention.
One family (Mom, Dad, Son, and Daughter) of visitors enjoyed the llamas so much, they decided to purchase two of our llamas. I am sure that, down the road, we will see them at a Llama Show or two. They are so excited to own thier OWN LLAMAS.
Sponsoring this type of event is a great way to introduce new people into the llama business. We highly recommend you try it with your local 4-H Club.
At the end of the day, several of the kids asked if we could have "A Day With The Llamas" each year.
We took several pictures of the group and saved them to our computer and then had a hard drive crash and lost all of them. One of the participants is going to get us some pictures that we will be posting with this article in the next few weeks.
Make it a GREAT Llama Day!
