President’s Letter
December, 2008
Dear Fellow KLAA Members,
Another year has come and gone as well as our 2008 show season.
2008 was a year of plenty of activity starting with the Kentuckiana Llama Classic. This show, considering the economy was a great success, thanks in most part to Mary Jo Miller. The majority of the members of KLAA have voted to not participate in the 2009 Kentuckiana but, HLAA is going ahead with the show. I wish them great success.
During 2008 there was the successful Spring and Fall Llama Daze organized by Charlotte, as well as the llama trek which was organized by Donna Keith. I would also like to thank Donna for taking the reins on the Kentucky State Fair and making that event a success for KLAA. We wish we could have participated in more of the events in 2008. Thanks to everyone who were able to participate in all these events.
Bringing up the end of the year was the North American. As of this date, I am not sure how we came out financially but, in my opinion this show was a great success as well. Considering all the changes from NAILE over previous years, it would not have surprised me that we would have lost thousands of dollars. However, with Mary Jo’s ability to attract lots of people to the show I think we will not lose a lot on the show. Congratulations to Mary Jo and everyone who helped with the show. I would like to throw out a SPECIAL THANK YOU to Larry and Mary Jo, Jo Ann and JL, Mike and Charla, Donna and Jack, Joe and Sarah, and Marvel for all their help before, during and/or after the show. As always, Norma Jean and Kathy did a great job making sure everyone got to eat well on Friday evening. Charlotte did a nice job with the silent auction as well. By the way, had anyone seen a NUN show llamas before? I thought that was a really neat addition to the show.
It appears the Spring, 2009 Show is well underway and we look forward to a successful show.
With the economy nearly coming to a complete HALT, Country View Llamas will not able to co-sponsor the John Mallon Clinic that was originally scheduled for June, 2009. Therefore, we will be cancelling the clinic. Hopefully we will be able to reschedule this clinic at a later date.
It has been an honor to be your President for the past two years. But, I think it is time that someone else take the lead. Therefore, I will not be accepting any elected position on the 2009 KLAA BOD.
Sincerely,
John Maddy
