Dear Fellow KLAA Members,
As all of you know, we had the 2008 Kentuckiana Lama Classic a few weeks ago in Indianapolis, Indiana.
As always, Mary Jo Miller did a fantastic job as our Show Superintendent. The show went off like clock work. The attendance was down this year over last, which was expected. However, being down 60 animals over last year caused a deficit in the finances. The figures are not all in yet but at this point, it looks like the show lost around $500.00.
JoAnn Bland did an INCREDIBLE job on the Grand and Reserve Awards. A HUGE THANK to JoAnn for all her generosity of time and hard work. Everyone LOVED the awards.
I would like to give a HUGE THANK YOU to the HLAA for all their help and support in making the 2008 Kentuckiana Lama Classic a Success. Without them, I am not sure how it could have been done. They truly are a hard working group of people.
The show for Country View Llamas was a great success. We ended up with four, First Place ribbons and two Reserve Grand Champions. Needless to say, we were extremely pleased.
A recent poll from all but one (JoAnn Bland has been out of town) KLAA Officer says that the 2008 NAILE Show will be a DOUBLE LLAMA SHOW and a SINGLE ALPACA SHOW. Many things have changed for the 2008 Show. Particularly, the finances…. Last year we received $5,000 from NAILE. This year, they are requiring us to pay them $15.00 per animal. They will be supplying the Show Ribbons and matching Premium Money, possibly up to $2,500. As of 04-30-2008, Mary Jo had not received an ABSOLUTE on this issue.
The KLAA Board Members have agreed on a $55.00 Show Fee, $10.00 ALSA Fee and a $25.00 Stall Fee for the 2008 Show. Mary Jo will have additional information at the next KLAA Meeting that will be held at Llama Daze in May 24, 2008.
Until then,
John Maddy,
2008 KLAA President
